Cinnamomun is found in Himalayan region.
Appearance:
It is ever green tree is 20-25 feet tall. Its leaves are frontal, leathery, 4-7 inch long and upper part is shiny with 3-5 veins. When crushed, leaves release a pungent odour. The taste of the leaves is bitter. Flowers are long and grow in bunches. They also have pungent smell. The fruits are ½ to 1 inch long, oval , dark purple and bell shaped with a seed inside. When the fruits are plucked an odour similar to that of turpentine oil is released.
Properties:
It promotes digestion, cures gastric problems and improves liver functions. It is analgesic and purifies mouth. It cures foul smell of the mouth and the sore throat. It also strengthens heart. It also cures gastric problems such as stomach swelling caused by indigestion. It also cures weakness of body, diarrhoea and sprue and irritable bowel syndrome. It is also beneficial in curing vomiting.
